Taylors Irish Night hosts final party evening
for Bord Failte Ireland Travel Trade Workshop 2002
We were delighted and honoured to be asked once again to host
this prestigious
event, when over 300 overseas tour operators partied into the
small hours of the morning to the tunes of the Merry Ploughboys
and Irish dancers, followed by a late bar and disco. The venue
was specially closed for this important event. One of the main
attractions was the wonderful seafood buffet, which featured a
basking shark caught the previous day off the coast of Donegal!
Everyone appeared suitably relaxed after a tough two day workshop
in the RDS.
German Finance Minister, Herr Hans Eichel,
and Minister Charlie McCreevy visit Taylor Irish Night
Amid much speculation by the Irish financial press, Hans Eichel
secretly paid a visit to Minister Charlie McCreevy in January
of this year, following a private invitation by the Irish Minister
for Finance. They managed to give the paparazzi the slip though,
and wound up enjoying the entertainment in Taylors Irish Night,
to the amazement of a neighbouring German tour group.
Merry Ploughboys play at 2006 Ryder Cup promotion
in Birmingham
The band enjoyed their recent appeance at the recheduled 2001/2
Ryder Cup which took place at the Belfry in Birmingham last September.
The band also performed in Brittany for the spectacular Tall Ships
festival in August. Due to commitments at the Irish Night, the
band effectively only travels abroad for major events.
Merry Ploughboys record new CD
The third CD by the band, "MP3", is now available. This
CD features many of the songs currently performed by the band
on stage and it is a lively and upbeat recording of many well-known
songs and ballads. Special guests include Ivan Smyth - don't miss
his outstanding banjo and bodhran playing. Ivan features regularly
with the group.
